My Origin Story
My origin story begins with a pivotal moment of transformation: the day my family left the bustling energy of a big city and moved to the quiet charm of a small country town. I was just seven years old, a child trying to adjust to an entirely new way of living. The transition was overwhelming, to say the least. The fast-paced rhythm of city life, with its noise and constant motion, was replaced by train tracks, open skies, and a serene stillness that felt both foreign and isolating.
In those early days, everything about the small-town life seemed unfamiliar. But instead of feeling lost, I found solace in art. Picking up watercolor painting became my way of familiarizing myself with this new environment. I focused on landscapes, capturing the beauty of the nature around me—fields of flowers, towering trees, and the endless blue skies. Each brushstroke was an attempt to connect with my surroundings, to make sense of this new chapter in my life. Art became my refuge, a bridge between me and the world I was learning to call home.
At first, my paintings were deeply personal. They were a way to process the changes I was experiencing, a way to find peace amidst the chaos of adjustment. But as I grew older, art evolved into something more than a coping mechanism. It became a way to communicate, to connect with others, and to tell stories that resonated far beyond my own experiences. I began to see how art could capture emotions, validate feelings, and create a sense of belonging for anyone who viewed it.
Dreams started to form. As a child, the idea of owning my own art gallery seemed like an impossible "what if," a fantasy reserved for daydreams. But over time, that dream became a goal—a vision of a space where creativity thrives and people connect through art. I imagined a gallery and cafe where artists could express themselves without fear or judgment, a space that felt like home.
Today, that dream feels closer than ever. This December, my art will be on display at the Day’s Town Cafe. It’s not yet the gallery I envisioned, but it’s a significant milestone, a reminder of how far I’ve come. This opportunity is proof that the seeds of my childhood aspirations are beginning to bloom.
My origin story is one of transformation and resilience. Moving to a small town may have seemed like a challenge at first, but it laid the foundation for my artistic journey. It taught me to find beauty in stillness, to use creativity as a tool for connection, and to turn change into inspiration. Through art, I’ve not only created a space for myself in the world but also a way to connect with others, offering them a chance to see their emotions reflected and validated. Every piece I create, every milestone I reach, brings me one step closer to making my dream of a gallery and cafe a reality—a space where art truly has the power to inspire
and unite.
My Artistic Vision
My artistic vision is rooted in the belief that art is a universal language—a way to connect, heal, and inspire. My journey began with art as a personal refuge, but it has grown into a mission to create pieces that resonate with others on a deeper level. I see my work as a bridge, helping people feel seen, understood, and valued, no matter where they are in life or what emotions they carry.
Connection lies at the heart of everything I create. I want my art to tell stories that reflect the vast range of human experiences. Whether someone feels vibrant and full of life or lost and invisible, I want my work to meet them where they are, offering comfort, acknowledgment, and celebration of their emotions. My goal is for each piece to evoke a sense of belonging—a space where people can find something uniquely personal to their own journey.
I approach my work with intention and meaning. Each piece I create is one-of-a-kind, with only a single copy ever printed. This makes every artwork a deeply personal treasure for the person who owns it, a reflection of their story and experiences. I want my art to be more than just a decoration—I want it to be a piece of someone’s heart and soul.
As I’ve grown, my art has evolved alongside me. I started with watercolor landscapes that captured the peace and stillness of small-town life, but I’ve since embraced the freedom of digital art. Exploring vibrant colors, bold designs, and diverse themes has allowed me to craft pieces that speak to different people in unique ways. I never want my work to feel confined; instead, I aim to create a variety of expressions so that anyone who encounters my art can find something that resonates with them.
My vision isn’t just about creating art—it’s about building a community. My dream of owning an art gallery and cafe is more than just a personal goal. I want it to be a space where artists feel safe to express themselves, where creativity thrives, and where people can connect through the stories that art tells. It’s not just a venue to display work; it’s a place for collaboration, inspiration, and transformation.
For me, art is about making a difference. I believe it has the power to heal, to inspire, and to bring people together. Every piece I create, every milestone I reach, brings me closer to turning this vision into a reality: a world where art is celebrated not only for its beauty but for its ability to connect us all.
The Face Behind the Name
Nykia Alexandria
Artist 🎨
Hi, I’m Nykia Alexandria, a Texas-based artist with a passion for creating one-of-a-kind pieces that inspire emotion and connection. My art stands apart because each piece is exclusive—printed only once, never reproduced. This makes every artwork a unique treasure for the buyer, offering something deeply personal and irreplaceable.
When someone sees my art, I want them to feel something. Each piece I create, spanning different genres and styles, tells a story. Maybe one story resonates with someone who’s vibrant and full of life, while another piece connects with someone feeling lost or struggling. We’re all on the same path of life, but we experience it in vastly different ways. My goal is for each person to find at least one piece of my art that moves them, that feels like it was made just for them.
As a child, I dreamed of owning my own art gallery—a safe, inspiring space where creativity thrives. That dream felt unattainable, but today, my work being displayed at the Day’s Town Cafe in December is a step toward making it a reality. Every piece of art I sell brings me closer to opening a gallery and cafe where artists of all kinds can feel at home, express themselves freely, and share their stories.
Thank you for supporting my journey. By purchasing my art, you’re not just buying a piece—you’re helping me create a space where art and connection come alive.
